Long Johns - MAB
1 cup milk
1/4 cup oleo
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 egg, beaten
1 cake yeast
3 tbsp water
3 1/2 - 4 cups flour
Let rise till double in size for 1 hour.
Punch down & let rise again until light.
Roll out dough on floured surface to a 12" square.
Cut into 4 x 1 1/2 " rectangles. Let rise, uncovered, until light & double in size, 30 to 60 minutes.
Fry in hot grease. Makes 2 dozen.
ICING
Cream 1 tbsp soft oleo & 1 1/2 cups 4X sugar together.
Add 2 to 4 tbsp light cream till of desired consistency.
Stir in 1/2 tsp vanilla.
Spread on top of long johns.
