Mix 1 small yeast cake to 1 cup luke warm water.  You could add a dash of sugar to help it along.
 
In big bowl put in
 
1 c. scalded milk               1 tsp salt
1/2 c shortening                 3/4 c sugar
 2 eggs
 
Add yeast mixture to milk mixture.  Stir altogether.
 Add 5 cups flour.  Add more if needed.
 
Put in greased bowl & cover.  Let rise till double.
 
Roll out & cut doughnuts & place on a covered IRONING BOARD.  Let rise again.
 
Fry in hot grease.
