Ingredients:

2/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt   
3 tbsp cornstarch
3 cups milk     
3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
1 tbsp butter
1 1/2 tsp vanilla 
1 pint heavy cream
1/2 cup 4X sugar
2 tsp vanilla 
4 large bananas
9 inch baked pie shell


Procedure:

Mix first 4 ingredients in saucepan. Bring to boil over moderate heat, stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat. Slowly pour half of hot mixture into egg yolks. Then blend that into remaining hot mixture in pan. Boil 1 minute more, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Blend in butter & vanilla. Cool at room temperature. Fill baked pie shell with slices from 3 large bananas. Pour cooled mixture on bananas.Whip cream until it stands up in peaks when beaters are raised slowly. Add 4X sugar & vanilla. Top cooled mix with whipped cream. Slice  banana & distribute on top of pie. You may want to cut whipped topping recipe in half. It makes an awful lot for one pie.
