1 cup (6 oz pkg) butterscotch pieces (reserve 1/3)

¼ cup water

½ cup shortening

2 eggs

1 ¼ cup sugar

2 ¼ cup flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp baking soda

½ baking powder

1 cup sour milk

 

Melt butterscotch pieces in water – ¼ water – cool

 

In mixing bowl cream shortening sugar and eggs.  Blend in butterscotch add dry ingredients with milk.

 

350 degrees – 25 minutes

 

Filling between layers and on top

 

½ cup sugar

½ cup evaporated milk

1/3 cup hot water

1/3 cup butterscotch pieces

1 egg, slightly beaten

2 Tbsp margarine

1 cup coconut

1 cup chopped nuts

1 Tbsp cornstarch

 

In saucepan combine sugar & cornstarch.  Stir in milk, water, butterscotch & egg.  Cook until thick.  Remove from heat.  Stir in butter, coconut & nuts.  Cool

 

Use the filling in between the layers and on top.  Make your favorite chocolate icing and ice the sides.
